ALLY WALKER

BIOGRAPHY

Actress Ally Walker will star this summer in the title role of Lifetime’s original drama series, The Protector.

Walker was moving down an altogether different career path when the acting profession found her.  Born in Tullahoma, Tennessee and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Walker studied biology and chemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz and went on to work for a genetic engineering firm in San Francisco.  While spending a semester at Richmond College of the Arts in London, Walker became interested in theater but did not pursue it as a career in lieu of her education in the sciences.  After graduating with a science degree, she continued to work in genetic engineering until her life changed one day when a producer discovered her in an L.A. restaurant and cast her in her first project.

From that point on, Walker made her mark in both television and film, at first starring in daytime’s EmmyÒ winning Santa Barbara, and True Blue.

On film she has starred in Cameron Crowe’s cult classic Singles;  the action flick Universal Soldier;  the comedy feature Steal Big, Steal Little, with Andy Garcia for director Andrew Davis;  as “Ashley Bartlett Bacon,” Peter Gallagher’s girlfriend in While You Were Sleeping;  in Happy Texas with Steve Zahn and William H Macy; in Toe to Toe and in Wonderful World with Matthew Broderick.

On television Walker starred as a private eye in the series Moon Over Miami, but she is perhaps best known for her portrayal of “Samantha Waters,” a forensic psychologist with a dark past, in the NBC drama series Profiler.  Premiering in 1996, the show was a pioneer in what is now the forensic drama phenomenon and is widely credited with paving the way for shows like CSI and Medium.  In 2007, she starred to critical acclaim in HBO’s groundbreaking series about the intimacy in relationships, Tell Me You Love Me. Most recently, and compellingly,  Walker portrayed sociopath ATF Agent  “June Stahl” on Sons of Anarchy, FX’s critically acclaimed dramatic hit series.

Walker produced, and co-directed with Adam Davidson, the documentary For Norman...Wherever You Are.  It chronicles her experience through the Los Angeles Foster Care System, a journey that she was compelled to take after helping a mother and her one-year-old boy get off the streets.  This raw and powerful film won Best Documentary Feature at the San Fernando Valley International Film Festival, as well as the Champion of Conscience Award at the Wine Country Film Festival.

Walker has supported the Environmental Defense Fund and CYFC – Children Youth and Family Collaborative among many other charitable organizations.  She resides in Santa Monica with her husband, three boys John Walker, 13; William, 10; Caleb, 7 and her three dogs – Flora, Daisy and Flower, two mutts and a Rottweiler.
